History of Honda® Motorsports

Soichiro Honda founded the company Tokai Seiki, which was a hopeful parts manufacturer. The company unfortunately failed, but Honda® gleaned some lessons and used this to inform the creation of his next company. In 1949, he launched the Honda® Motor company. He worked alongside his partner Takeo Fujisawa to develop a line of automotive vehicles.

That founding year was a busy one for the duo - they also created their first motorcycle. It was named the D-Type with the "D" standing for Dream. A few decades later, in 1964, the company earned the title of the world's largest manufacturer of motorcycles. You wouldn't need to travel far to find a Honda® dealership and that's still a trend that continues today.
